My sweet grandpa also had a birthday yesterday, 82 years old! I love that guy. I posted a picture on instagram recently of him. My cousin Brennan and I were both visiting San Diego, so we got to join my parents in taking himm out to lunch. These days you never know how he's going to be, he usually doesn't want to leave his place, and he really doesn't do much talking. He suffers from Alzheimers, and I hate that disease. It's getting harder and harder to see even glimpses of the real grandpa.. but on that day when we went to lunch, I can't even express how sweet it was! He was more alert than I've seen him in so long. He spoke to each of us, he made direct eye contact with each of us. He was smiling, and talking. He talked about his church and his home. He got excited when my mom told him he had a birthday coming up, and he even sang on the drive back home. For a fleeting moment I got to see my sweet grandpa again, I felt like for maybe just a moment he wasn't so confused. I believe in tender mercies. I believe that Heavenly Father gave us an incredibly sweet gift that day. I believe that my Grandpa will be made whole again. Moments like that remind me how precious life is, they also remind me that there's an eternity of life after this. JPJ had quite the impact on all his family members, and if your friends with any of my family on facebook you would see how loved he is based on all the birthday posts about him. Happy Birthday grandpa, I love you & I really, really miss you.
My parents celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary over the weekend, and golly I love those two. They are so sweet to each other and are shamelessly still head over heels in love. It's been a huge blessing seeing their example of what a happy and healthy marriage is. They haven't missed a date in all their Fridays of being married, can you believe that? I love that they always put one another at the top of their priorities. Happy Anniversary mom and dad! Thanks for always loving each other!
